First Swimming Badge

Matthew got his first actual swimming badge tonight. He is very proudly showing his Yellow Sea Horse badge and report card, and is moving onwards and upwards into the Orange Jellyfish level. On the drive home from the pool he kept saying "I can't believe they gave this to me, I can't believe they gave this to me"....it was so sweet. As a special treat we stopped off at McDonald's and had an ice cream cone to celebrate the occasion.

Water and Sand Park Play

The kids and I were up at Grandma and Papa's in Parksville for the past 2 weeks. We've been getting ready to do our regular summer camping at Sproat Lake just outside of the town that I grew up in (Port Alberni). There has been lots of work setting up, as we purchased a new RV and with this changes had to be made at our lot to accomodate things properly (I won't go into details....it's been a bit of a headache). In between all the work we managed to have some fun. There is a great park at the beach in the little town where Grandma and Papa live, and the kids enjoyed themselves tremendously.

Pool Fun

Well, summer has finally arrived and we managed to splash around over the weekend at Grandma and Papa's. I'm not sure who had more fun... me or the kids!

A Boy & His Flowers

One of Matthew's favorite things is picking flowers. He loves going on nature walks in the neighbourhood and collecting all kinds of different flowers to put in a cup. He usually wants to hold one for awhile in the house before putting them in water; this one and a couple others came home with him today from Daddy's last day of school. I couldn't resist but snap a shot.
It was costume day again at daycare and this time Matthew was a Hawaiian. At first he wasn't so sure of wearing a "necklace" of flowers ,and then after some explanation he thought it was quite cool. He was trying to do a "Hang Ten" sign with his hands, but was having a bit of trouble trying to coordinate them.

Tomato Plant Update #1

Matthew has had his tomatoe plant for about a month now and as you can see, it has grown a ton. We are patiently waiting for some tomatoes....it shouldn't be too long as flowers are showing.

Ice Cream Faces

I don't know, do you think they like ice cream or is this just my thought?

Picking Flowers Together

We went to a park the other weekend that had a large grass field that was full of small daisy flowers. Matthew has always had a thing for flowers and was in his glory. Because the area was so big, it was kind of special seeing them picking the flowers almost "together."
